Jackson, W. Reading Romans with eastern eyes: Honor and shame in Paul’s message and
mission. InterVarsity Press, 2019.
This source will help identify the honor and shame in Paul’s message by considering how
the Romans can be interpreted in East Asian culture. In the book, Jackson focuses on ways that
are objected as significant to the cultures that insist on the themes of shame, honor, hierarchy,
and collective identity. Rather than debating whether the letter and theology of Paul have a
justification center or the righteousness of God. Chapter one of the book provides an Eastern lens
by which Romans can be read. Chapter two considers why the Romans was written by Paul. The
chapter offers that Paul wrote a letter to blunt the force of his criticism that was blunt and
encourage the churches of Romans to support the Spanish mission. Chapter three through ten
reveals more debated questions from Romans 1-4; this includes why the view of sin to Paul
entailed more honor-shame, which is recognized often.

This source will elaborate on the letter of the Romans that was written by Paul. The letter
to the Romans at Rome has for a long time held its place at pride. Paul’s apostolic thought in the
letter can be identified as the longest and one having the most systematic unfolding. The letter is
recognized as the longest apostolic thought in the Bible as it reveals and expounds more on
God's gospel and its righteousness’ as it is significant in saving the lives of true believers in
Christ (Romans 1:16-17). The letter reflects the outlook of the universe and special implications
of the relation of Israel to the church (Romans 9:16-17).

This source provides an overview of the book of Romans and the reasons it is important.
The Romans letter is viewed as the clearest and highly orderly Christian doctrine presentation in
all the other scriptures. In the letter, Paul begins to discuss the most essential aspects that are
easily observable across the world, that is, all humanity's sinfulness. Paul reveals that all
humankind has been condemned because of their rebellion towards God. Nevertheless, God
offers us justification through His grace, and Christians receive grace by having faith in His son
Jesus Christ. Christians receive salvation and redemption when they are justified by God through
the forgiveness of sins by the blood of Jesus Christ that covers sin.

This source provides the letter of Paul to the Romans ad the unbelief and consequences of
God's judgment. Paul states in (Roman 1:16-17) “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the
power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For
in it, the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, but the righteous
man shall live by faith.” In this verse, Paul reveals how humankind fails to portray the
righteousness of God despite being justified by faith. Paul urges that Christians can demonstrate
the righteousness of God by transforming their lives from rebels to being His followers. Paul
confirmed the righteousness of God when He saved the lives of Jews; thus, Christians should
apply His righteousness in practical ways in their daily life.

This source explains the introduction of the Romans Epistle and provides more about the
greatest theme in the letter, which is the gospel. In the letter, Paul states that he was called for the
sake of the gospel. The dedication of Paul was to Christ and his gospel because he preached it
with his whole heart (Romans 1:9). The power of God through salvation is portrayed in the
gospel as Paul states that it can save those that believe in God and the son Jesus Christ. Paul
provides that the Israelites rejected the gospel (Romans 10:16), but graciously the gentiles
accepted it and practiced it into their lives. The righteousness of God is portrayed in the gospel
through faith to faith.

This source provides the introduction of the book of Romans, reasons why Paul wrote
Romans, and the purpose of the book of Romans. One of the reasons that Paul wrote the letter to
the Romans was that he was interested in the Roman church and planned to visit the church for
many years. Secondly, Paul wanted to spread the gospel and build a spiritual impact for the
Romans' benefit. The purpose of the book of Romans was to provide a full doctrine statement
concerning Paul's gospel position, which made more treatise compared to a letter that was just
written regarding situations in history.

This source indicates why Paul wrote Roman by putting together his missionary purpose.
The Roman letter written by Paul was entrusted to phoebe, who he thought would be welcomed
by believers upon her arrival (Romans 16:1-2). Phoebe’s role was to bring the letter as an
installment of advancement, that was to be ahead of the personal visit of Paul, as he was
planning to pass through Rome on his journey to Spain. Another purpose of writing the letter is
to reveal the central theme of the gospel preached by Paul. In the letter, a divine promise is
identified through God's forgiveness of sins, and the divine mystery of His grace over the life of
sinners is revealed.

This source provides the introduction of the Epistle of Paul to the Romans and explains
the doctrine of faith justification in Jesus Christ. Paul describes the sinfulness plight faced by all
humankind and teaches that Jesus Christ’s atonement is the only solution to the challenge of sin
among all individuals. Paul confirms that once Christians accept Christ's atonement, the
justification of humankind or the forgiveness of sins is guaranteed. In Romans 4-8, Paul uses the
example of Abraham to demonstrate the justification doctrine through faith. Paul also expounds
on the salvation doctrines and teaches how they impact the lives of all humankind that live in the
faith of Christ.
