In this paper, I am going to write an essay about my worldview with regard to the
Romans Bible chapter. Above all, I have a biblical worldview. Genesis 1:1 says, “in the
beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” From my points of view, God created humans
in His image and gave us His words which is the Bible. Thus, I should follow the teachings and
commands of the Bible as a Christian. I get influenced by my biblical worldview when making
decisions and so answer the question of origin, identity, purpose, ethic, and even destiny based
on what the Bible says. Continuously, I will identify the teachings of Romans chapter and then
examine how it affects my point of view.
Natural World
Romans chapters deals with one of the significant topics, the natural world. Paul
addresses the natural world in Romans 1:17-20. Specifically, I found the grace of God because
God did not ignore people who committed sins. Rather, God revealed Himself to human beings
in order to notify His existence. Before the fall, the garden of Eden was a place where everything
was perfect and Adam and Eve’s life was blessed as God intended it to be. Most importantly,
they were privileged as having a perfect relationship with God. That is, it was like paradise.
However, even after the fall, God revealed some signals indirectly as Romans 1:20 says,
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities- his eternal power and divine
nature- have been clearly seen, being understood from what has made, so that men are without
excuse.” Because of the effect of sinfulness, people are no longer to see Him directly. That is
why God showed things that make Him known to people. Thus, people should be able to
discern Him without doubt. Nevertheless, people ignored His presence and did all
unrighteousness
behaviors. This was rooted back from the first disobedience of Adam and Eve. It made separation
from God and brought wickedness. Paul says people’s state of mind is “darkened” (Rom 1:21).
2
Also, in Romans chapter 1: 23-32, Paul talks about sinful acts including adultery, idolatry, lies,
and murder. That is, through the eyes of Paul, the world then was filled with sins even though
people could acknowledge God’s presence.
When integrating the natural world then with the natural world today, it is almost the
same. Also, from my biblical worldview, it is no surprise that people today still do the sinful
things as the Roman did. In today’s society, as Romans 1:26-27 says, it has become Godless.
Along with it, I admit the fact that God has revealed Himself to human beings and so He could
build a relationship with us again. As the Bible teaches the truth, I believe He does not live far
away from us. Rather, He interacts with His creation. The problem, however, is that people
living in the fallen world are still filled with sins whereas God who is righteous is covered in the
grace. Therefore, when it comes to the topic of the natural world in Romans, it affects my
perspective on how I should live this world as I should live as the Bible teaches. Even though the
world is fallen, God is still sovereign and righteous.
Human Identity
When it comes to human identity, I should know myself as well as who Jesus Christ is.
From my view based on the Bible, human nature is something that we are His creations made in
God’s image. Unfortunately, after the fall, “sin entered the world and death through sin, and in
this way death came to all men, because all sinned.” (Rom 5:12). As Paul noticed, we actually
deserve death as sinners. Along with it, Paul wrote that “there is no one righteous, not even
one.” (Rom 3:10). Due to our unrighteousness, we “fall short of the glory of God” (Rom 3:23).
Unlike our wickedness and sinful nature, God was the one and only righteous. This is because
He justified us by His grace “through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ” (Rom 3:24). In
other words, Jesus Christ made a sacrifice of atonement. As a result, the one man, Jesus Christ
3
gave all of us the eternal life and made a connection with God once again. Nevertheless, when
living in the fallen world, we might still struggle with our sins because “we are weak in our
natural selves” (Rom6:19a). However, Paul clearly states our identity within Christ; there is no
longer condemnation for those who are in Jesus Christ (Rom 8:1).
When putting together, those who believe in God are justified to be righteous by His
grace and no longer slaves of sin. These facts affect and shape my worldview. While living in
the world, I should live as a slave to righteousness, not to sin. My sins have no power because of
the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. For making it possible, God justified, sanctified, and glorified us
(Rom 8:30). I believe as Jesus took up His cross for my sins, I should neither blame nor
condemn others. Also, I should live my life, having a hope in Christ who gave me the eternal life
gracefully. Therefore, I should not live according to the sinful nature. When thinking of His love
which can never be separated us from the love of God, I am able to convince myself that nothing
can ever conquer me but only the love of God. (Rom8:38-39).
Man’s Relationship with God
With regard to our relationship with God, He is the creator and I am His creation. In the
book of Romans, Paul describes our relationship with God, our creator. From my perspective,
God did all things for us because of His love for us. I call it true love. Due to His righteousness,
we can have a relationship with God again. That is, our relationship with Him brings rejoice
with Him. Also, we glorify Him and have a peace with Him as well. God gave us a hope for
those who were meant to be eternally punished. When considering it, my attitude should not take
it for granted by boasting the fact. I, however, rather should be humble and serve Him as my
savior. (Rom 3:27). Furthermore, our relationship with God, which is based on the love of Christ
cannot be separated from anything, including trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, nakedness,
danger,
4
and sword. In other words, any obstacles can ever separate us from the love of God that is in
Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom 8:39).
From my perspective, the fact that I have an everlasting connection with God makes me
have a courage and strength. I am a child of God who loves me so much and gave His only son
for me. This is enough to be a slave of God as He gave such an undeserved present to me. I am
so thankful and graceful for God. I confidently stand in God’s grace through Jesus Christ. The
world cannot give me any sense of true satisfaction. People who do not know Christ always seek
for something to fill the void of loneliness and emptiness. In contrast, I know the truth is within
God, but the world can never bring me a peace.
Also, living in a fallen world can bring sufferings. Being a Christian does not mean that I
do not get any difficulties anymore. However, Paul indicates how Christians should have a
manner. “Rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
perseverance, character; and character, hope.” (Rom 5:3). As Paul stated, we should be willing to
rejoice while having challenges as He is doing for good reasons that strengthen our faith or
relationship with God. I believe even though I am in the middle of bearing pains and sufferings,
God never let us be alone. Rather, He actually wants us to be drawn closer and closer to Him as
our safe haven.
In conclusion, I described Paul’s important topics, including natural worlds, human
identity, and our relationship with God, in the book of Romans for Roman people. Having a
biblical worldview, these teachings strength my view as I ought to live in the world as a
Christian. Therefore, Paul’s teachings help me shape the way I should look at the world. In this
sense my biblical worldview has shaped godly with reference to the book of Romans.

Before the fall of Adam, His creation was made out of God’s image and had a perfect
relationship with God. After the fall, however, everyone must die and have punishment eternally.
God really wanted to have a bridge between Him and the world. That is why He sent His son,
Jesus Christ to save us by God’s grace and righteousness. Now that, we are given the title,
‘righteousness’ for those who believe in Him. Even if the world is still wicked as the days of
Rome, I have a hope in Christ and it is such a powerful spur to keep on living. No matter how
much I get sufferings, God is sovereign and He has a good purpose. As Jesus Christ showed me
His grace and forgiveness, I, as a Christian, should do the same way to others. I will not forgive
the fact that I ‘am given’ His righteousness. I never earned it or made an effort for it. It makes me
humble every time. Thus, as I know the truth, my worldview reflects my beliefs in living.
