Passage: Acts 9:36-43
1. The question of duty
Christians are responsible for seeking God and obeying the commands he gives
them. In order to cultivate a profound connection with God, people are obligated to study
the Bible and pray on a regular basis. Serving God and putting their faith in him is a must
for Christians. It can be seen in the text of Acts 9:40 that Peter prayed for Tabitha, and as
a result, she was brought back to life (KJV). People have a responsibility to serve the
Lord with diligence and to act in accordance with the directives that he has given. God's
people can take solace in the fact that he has good intentions for them. As a result, those
who call themselves Christians have a responsibility to worship Him and stay away from
sin. According to what is stated in the scripture, Christians are obligated to win people
over to the Lord by demonstrating the goodness of God. Tabitha was shown by Peter that
God is capable of performing miracles. People should imitate the way that Jesus lived
their lives. He was a son of God, and as such, it was his responsibility to act morally and
obey God's rules. Additionally, people have an obligation to love and assist one another.
When Christians serve God, He will give them the ability to work miracles as a reward
for their obedience.

2. The question of character
The lives of Christians ought to be exemplary in that they serve as models for
others and persuade others to walk in God's footsteps. They need to have good character,
as seen by Jesus, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and
self-control" (5:22–23). This verse demonstrates that in order to become a follower of
God, it is necessary to spend a significant amount of time with God and discuss
everything with him before making a choice. According to what is stated in the chapter,
Christians ought to model their behavior after that of Peter and pray. When Tabitha
passed away, the disciples harbored a hope that they could revive her, and they succeeded
in persuading Peter to travel back to Joppa. Peter went back and continued to pray for her.
Therefore, Christians ought to have the character trait of believing in God and should
continue to pray. More than that, Christians need to develop a character that is helpful,
just like Peter was helpful to Tabitha. When we have good character, God works through
us and grants us anything we ask for. This happens through the holy spirit.
3. The question of goals
This verse demonstrates that Christians need to make it their mission to spend
more time with God in order to fulfill their calling. Reading God's word and talking to
him in prayer more frequently is what we mean when we talk about spending time with
God. Peter put his trust in God and spent time with him; Christians today should follow
Peter's example and put their trust in God while also serving him with diligence.
Another essential objective of the reading is assisting those around you. Peter made a
sacrifice for Tabitha and traveled all the way to Joppa in order to pray for her and bring

her back to life. As followers of Christ, we ought to make it our life's mission to assist
others in times of difficulty in their own lives. "Do not withhold good from those to
whom it is due, when it is in your power to act" (Proverbs 3:27). The troubles of the
world may overwhelm us and leave us feeling useless. God provides us with the means to
help the people he has strategically placed in our lives. We only need to be faithful in our
actions with what he's given us, and he'll take care of everything else.
4. The question of discernment
In John 15:13, Jesus says, "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's
life for one's friends." There is no other love that compares to this kind of love. We have
no control over whether or not God chooses us; rather, he is the one who employs us as
tools to accomplish His will in this life. He manifested himself through this Christian
woman and used Tabitha as a means to do so. He raised Tabitha from the dead. Most of
the time, we don't deserve to be picked, but God is aware of what each of us needs to
experience a miracle in our own lives to have faith in him. Because of this, the author of
the book of acts wrote, "This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in
the Lord" (Acts 9:42). This verse has a profound significance in demonstrating the love,
support, and care a Christian community provides for one another.
