BIBLE STUDY PROJECT: APPLICATION TEMPLATE
Passage: Acts 9:36-43
A. What points of application can be made using the “Four Questions for Application?”
State and explain 1 point of application for each of these four questions. Your explanation
for each of these points should be 1 paragraph (150-300 words) in length.
1. The question of duty:
a. This passage tells the story of Tabitha, a woman who was brought back by one of
Jesus’ apostles Peter. He was a devoted Christian and a man who sought to love
and honor God in all he did. Because of Peters's faithfulness, God used him to
work miracles, such as raising people from the dead. Now, the question of duty.
You can find the answer within both characters, Peter, and Tabitha. Peter, spread
the word of God and was used by God to be a leader, and live a Godly life. Both
Tabitha and Peter were great examples to other Christians about how we should
live and fulfill the duties that come along with being a Christian. Tabitha was
known among her whole town for being kind, a servant, and her willingness to
help others. She gave and helped those who needed help. Peter, was an apostle.
He was an amazing disciple, and he was one of the 12. Peter ventured out all over
to spread the gospel of God.

2. The question of character
a. Tabitha was the perfect example of what a true Christian should look like. She
was the definition of a Christian. What Tabitha did, and the life she lives is
exactly what God wanted/wants us to do and be as fellow Christ followers. In
verse 36, it states that “Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha,
which by interpretation was called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works
and almsdeeds which she did. Her dedication was rewarded. Even though she fell
ill and sadly passed, God used Peter to resurrect Tabitha. The way Tabitha lived;
God wants us to as well. We must have desires to do good words and deeds and
help those who need help. We must also remember to be servants of the Lord. As
Christ's followers, it is crucial to look at Tabitha, see the way she loved, and
remember that God is looking for us to be and act the same.
3. The question of goals
a. Tabitha’s main goal was to be a disciple. She did this by making sure others felt
Gids love through the way she lived. She was sharing the many gifts that God
gave her and blessed the lives of many. You can tell this by the way the town was
broken when she passed, and they wanted to do everything they could to help her.
The goals and way Tabitha lived should be an inspiration for every Christian. She
did not do anything to gain or get approval or reignition. Rather, she knew it was
right, and wanted to be the loving example of what being a Christian is, and she
did just that. She also honored God and what he has asked of us to do. Her goal
was to honor, please, and live a life that was honoring God. She knew what was
called and asked of her, and she did it with a happy and servant’s heart.

4. The question of discernment
a. The passage of Acts 9 was clear in what the meaning was. This is shown by the
reward of living a Godly lifestyle. These passages gave us a glimpse of what will
happen when we are in heaven. While good works can and will be rewarded, not
all our good works will be recognized or appreciated. As a believer, we must do
good works and deeds because we know it is right, and we also feel good. Being a
Christian is all about being more Christ-like. And Christ loved and helped
everyone without seeking a reward. And while he was rewarded, we could see
from his life that it was harder than easy. When we go to heaven, all our good
works will be praised and recognized. However, it is important to not do good
words solely for getting rewarded, but because we know it is right and it should
bring us joy.
