3-2-1 assignment bib 104
One key idea is standing at all costs. Throughout all of the reading standing
for what you believe is right. One example of standing through all costs was
when Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were going to be thrown into a
fiery pit and instead of bowing to the gold statue they said, “If we are thrown
into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he
will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we … will not
serve your gods or worship the image of gold” (Daniel 3:16–18).
Another key idea is peer pressure. All through the reading Daniel and his friends
are constantly being pressured by their peers to give in and follow the
Assyrian lifestyle they never give in to their peers and they were remembered
for their resistance to peer pressure. “But these four are the only ones whose
names we know because they appear to have been the only ones who stood up
for their faith in God.” [Ed Hindson (2017). (p. 180). Courageous Faith: Life
Lessons from Old Testament Heroes (Updated)]. One instance of them being
peer pressured is when they gave them food to eat from the kings table.
