Discussion Board 2: Reply to Nurse-Family Partnership
I believe this is a clearly written grant proposal. The only thing I saw that might be
improved would be to add a Level 1 heading for your cover page. You have clearly explained
there is a valid need for young and first time parents to have skilled and trained guidance. Giving
birth does not automatically mean you will know how to care for a child. Some skills are best
learned by example, and I see no better mentor than a trained nurse.
I would definitely fund this proposal. I know from experience there is always a shortage
of qualified nurses on staff at any medical facility. Your request for only one or two nurses is
very conservative. There is a very clear need for additional funding. The realization that mothers
need additional help has prompted Cannon Air Force Base to provide "a quiet and safe place for
breastfeeding mothers to take care of their children" (Providing Support, 2018, p. 1).
Additionally, "Air Force Instruction 44-102 states that buildings must have a quiet area aside
from a bathroom available for a mother to feed her child" (Providing Support, 2018, p. 1).
I especially enjoy your budget chart that explains how the Nurse-Family Partnership
plans to obtain the additional funding needed.
Your project description was easy to understand and presented some very good proposal
ideas. I though you followed the guidelines extremely well.
