PEPSICO
PepsiCo is a leading global food, snack and beverage company. PepsiCo was founded in
1965 by Donald Kendall, CEO of Pepsi-Cola, and Herman Lay, CEO of Frito-Lay, with the
merger of these two corporations. Some of their major brands aside from Pepsi and Frito-Lays
include: Tropicana, Pure Life, Naked, Life Water, Quaker Oats, Gatorade and so many more, all
of which are household names across the globe. PepsiCo has six divisions across the world
which consist of North America Beverages; Frito-Lay North America; Quaker Foods North
America; Latin America; Europe Sub-Saharan Africa; and Asia, Middle East and North Africa.
PepsiCo has continually strived to distinguish new and developing patterns, as well as, balanced
making the important investments and changes so that they can explore them effectively. “That
is why, decade after decade, we have consistently delivered top-tier returns, outperformed the
competition and built a portfolio of iconic brands, while also attracting and developing some of
the best and brightest leaders in our industry” (PEPSICO, 2019, pg.1).
In 2017, PepsiCo’s operating performance and annual sales results prove their continued
success and gives them a strong five-year track record. Some of those results, according to the
Annual Reports and Proxy Information (PEPSICO, 2017) are as follows: organic revenue growth
of 2.3%, the expanded core operating margins by 45 basis points, grew core constant currency
EPS by 9%, generated free cash flow, excluding certain items, of $7.3 billion, met their goal of
returning $6.5 billion in cash to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases combined.
