My Sun Devil Story beings with my hometown. Wonder lake Illinois, a small suburb of
the Chicagoland area unrecognizable to anyone but those who grew up there. The most popular
response I give to those who ask “where are you from “is to just say I’m from northern Chicago.
Growing up in a small predominately White/Latino midwestern town is what you might expect.
Highschool’s have graduating classes of around 250, everyone knows everyone. Which in some
cases may prove annoying, because when everyone knows everyone most people lack the skill
of minding their own business. Besides that small downside, the community was nurturing,
most everyone was supportive, and you grow up with a strong base of friends, morals and goals.
Which leads me to the next part of my Sun Devil story, why I chose Arizona state
University and the W.P Carey school of business. My grandparents moved to a town named
Casa Grande around 5 years ago, since then my family has been visiting them every year for
spring break. Casa Grande is around thirty minutes away from campus, so while visiting I
decided I’d like to have a college visit. I instantly fell in love with this school and the W.P Carey
school of business. From the weather to the dorms it was difficult to find something that didn’t
appeal to me on campus. Furthermore, the reputation of the W.P Carey school of business and
Arizona state made the decision even easier. The business school lies among the top 30 in the
nation, as well as holding the prestigious title of #1 in innovation. Those statistics instantly drew
me closer to becoming a Sun Devil. Within the W.P Carey school of business I selected
Marketing as my Major. While wanting a strong background in Marketing I also wish to become

an Entrepreneur after graduation just like my father which may be why I have such an interest in
business as a whole.
Which brings me to my next topic, Why I chose business, I chose business because the
world revolves around business. The world is kept running by the concept of money. As I’ve
learned from my CIS professor in such a short time “Money is everything” and I completely
agree. Regardless of location, Heritage, type of currency, everything remains fluid on the
foundation of the exchange of goods and services. Business will never cease to exist and is
forever changing. Which provides opportunities for those with the ability to see and predict
change. That is why my interests lie in business. I possess a few necessary skills to run my own
business, but lack extensive knowledge which I hope to gain through my next four years at ASU.
My ambitions for my future and my all depend on the knowledge I am intended to learn
through those next four years of college. One of my ambitions is to develop or improve a
product. Another ambition would be a marketing manager at a major brand.
