Critical Approaches Toward Public Administration
Key approaches in public administration, such as political, legal, and managerial
frameworks, determine outcomes in governance and resonate with Biblical principles of
stewardship and leadership. Plant (2018) gives keen interest to the evolution of accountability
that underlies the balance between the political, organizational, and ethical demands in his
chapter "The Evolving Concept of Accountability". The managerial approach optimizes
organizational performance through the efficacy and adaptability of the principles reflected in
Biblical stewardship, mainly the prudent management of resources (Proverbs 27:23) (KJB,
2020). Ethical considerations in the framework can vary between compliance and integrity.
However, compliance-based approaches influence organizational climates to a greater degree
(Hijal-Moghrabi & Sabhar, 2018).
On the other hand, the political approach focuses on values like economic development
and national strength. It has a multi-level government system where every level has some
sovereign power. This approach correlates well with the Biblical view of authority and
governance in Romans 13:1, which appeals for reverence to be accorded to governing
authorities. The legal approach ensures the enforcement of laws and the protection of rights, as
well as maintaining social equity and justice, which is core to public administration and Biblical
doctrine (Hijal-Moghrabi & Sabhar, 2018). The reference to the administration of equal law
underpins the Biblical view of justice and fairness, paramount to ethical governance.
These approaches underscore my work in public administration toward grounding a
multidimensional understanding of governance. They concur with ethical and Biblical principles
of leadership in that they give an understanding of how to implement policies that are just,
effective, and accord respect to both divine and human laws. In general, inculcation of these

perspectives breeds a governance system designed for the common good and aligns statecraft
with practical statesmanship founded on moral and ethical integrity. These approaches are
essential to my work in providing a comprehensive framework for understanding the governance
dynamics and setting up only effective policies.
