Comparing and Contrasting Mass Communication Technologies
Still, photography alone has played a significant role in mass communication by
providing an iconic record of historical emotive incidents. Photos such as those of civil rights
movements have informed and enlightened people worldwide and spurred change. Films then
progressed in how they communicated ideas through movement and sound, thereby being able to
tell better and more exciting stories(Jensen,2022). Films like 13th are incredibly effective in
drawing attention to specific issues and starting conversations by presenting them in a
convincing and engaging documentary format. Additionally, TelevisionTelevision created the
opportunity for live broadcasting, making it the primary source of information and entertainment
(Jensen,2022). Some examples include the live coverage of the 2020 US election by
TelevisionTelevision, which delivered the results as soon as they occurred and contributed to
emergent public conversations. Since then, video technology has continued to create mass
content with tools such as YouTube and TikTok, among others, to disseminate information
worldwide. Environmentalists such as Greta Thunberg also use videos to spread mass advocacy.
Computer and internet technologies most fully integrated all prior forms through blended
multimedia experiences on the Internet. Web pages, video clips, photographs, and comments on
social networks form intricate messaging environments (Kumar,2020). Social networks such as
Instagram give the ability to share content that goes viral, for instance, the global protests of
Black Lives Matter that were organized with the help of the Internet.
An example that has been well designed is the Apple company website. This site is easy
to navigate since it is well-developed with minimal interface complications, which is typical of
Apple. Clear and high-resolution images, simplicity, and elegance contribute to the focal point,
which targets the company's products and is easily recognizable so that the users can locate the

information without getting lost. Persistent use of branding elements like color and appropriate
typeface makes the branding look professional. One notable aspect implemented in Apple's site
is the strategic employment of white space to enhance ease of reading and aesthetic appeal,
making it easy for users to browse product details and purchase tools with clear prompts (Apple’s
website - Google Search. (2014).
On the other hand, Ling’s Cars (www. lingscars. com) would be considered a bad website
design. Even though its design might be considered unconventional, it is not adequate to
overload the website with different elements, fill it with too many colors, use too many
animations, and make the site structure look confusing. Its layout needs to be correctly
streamlined, and its structure needs to be more well-organized, making it challenging to find
specific information on the site (www.lingscars.com website review - Google Search. (2017).
Despite this, the focus on graphics may lead users to miss the important information posted on
the site. Therefore, the site will be less effective as a communication
medium.
Several recommendations can be made to enhance the performance of Ling's Cars
website. First of all, the clutter and the lack of a clear structure made it quite challenging to
navigate through the site, so eliminating these elements would go a long way toward improving
the overall usability of the design. The current and consistent use of color schemes and
typography would help make the design look neater. Limiting the number of arranged animations
to the most significant components would help avoid excessive load. Furthermore, improving the
navigation menu and making the information it delivers more obvious would assist users in
seeking information quickly. It is crucial to resolve these aspects, which could help significantly
improve the time that users spend on Ling's Cars and the overall satisfaction of the visitors.
