Growing Reliance on Digital Government Services
Digital Government services are public and commercial services that make use of
information and communication technology also referred to as e-government. Filling out tax
returns, renewing a driver's license, and applying for a pet license are all common digital
services. Almost any government form or service can be made available online. Due to the
simplicity and comfort of the most recent technology, the digital services for governments
themselves provide much more transparent and effective services to both sides (GovOS, 2022).
Many government services during Covid pandemic were greatly affected and transform it
digitally. The process of digital transformation. It does not occur suddenly or overnight. As new
technology is installed and continually upgraded, as personnel are trained to use contemporary
government IT systems, and as organizational cultures move from manual to digital systems, it
happens in steps and phases (GovPilot, 2022).
Digital Services has benefits such as:
Improved departmental coordination.
Lower labor expenses.
Advancement in process.
delivering user-friendly and practical features.
Enhanced internal effectiveness and productivity.
There has been a decrease in the number of unnecessary calls from residents to city
personnel since the portal's inception. Director of Adult Social Services Victoria Collins said,
"Our staff finds that when clients move to needing to speak to them, they come more better
educated and have realistic expectations of the care we can offer. Our staff has more time to
focus on people who require our assistance the most because there are fewer phone calls and
face-to-face encounters to attend to.
On a survey conducted by Granicus consumers expect services to be straightforward,
easy to use, and easily available online. Governments are stepping up their digitization efforts in
response to these increased expectations and are putting services like unemployment and permit
applications online.

organizations.

services or options.
