After extensive research, the journals mentioned above have relevance to my topic and
appear to be related. I was inspired by the fact that communication plays a big part in our
lives and, more importantly, business. I narrowed the 587,136 results to 4,121 by limiting the
search to peer-reviewed scholarly journals published between 2018 and 2022 that had
complete transcripts available. I looked through a few pages and skimmed around ten
abstracts before narrowing my search by journal, observing that certain publications produced
more scholarly study than actual research. I eventually settled on two articles: The
Importance of Communication in Business Management and International Journal of
Enterprise Information Systems.
Introduction
Effective communication is an essential part of an effective and successful business in
operations management. This ensures that everyone understands their duties and
responsibilities, builds quality relationships with customers and employees, and maintains
2
employee engagement and productivity. Business owners must prioritize effective
communication to ensure employee satisfaction and promote high productivity. Often, there
is a significant gap between what we plan to say and what we say. Another critical issue
emerges when the listeners do not correctly interpret our signals. Communication is effective
when the listener clearly understands the speaker's intended message. Communication is
more than just transmitting and receiving messages; it also entails comprehension. Effective
communication refers to how well we straightforwardly interact with others. To communicate
effectively, the recipient must comprehend the message the same way that the sender
intended. In doing so, the media they use carries the weight of the news. Effective business
communication should happen when two or more persons share business-related information.
Literature reviews
Effective communication allows for the creation of effective plans. The business will develop
in a dynamic environment with an effective strategy. A firm may communicate with its
internal parties and external parties (Markovic & Salamzadeh, 2018). Most national
languages provide day-to-day communication, and it is unlikely that any other code should
take over these functions. As a result of globalization, business communications have become
more international. Native language use in business is a significant obstacle to international
business transactions. In a broad sense, communication barriers can exist either inside or
outside a particular range of communication (concerning the client). Good corporate
communication is critical in a rapidly changing environment in today's world. A firm uses
3
communication to keep control over its staff. With the use of communication, better
judgments may be made.
Effective communication is regarded as the lifeblood of business, and managers use
communication to gather the required information from reliable sources. Enterprise chat
solutions worsen the problem of company communication overload and fragmented
dialogues. This tool would benefit small teams working on short-term projects or customer
care teams communicating with clients via their chosen channels. Still, they are not fostering
practical corporate cooperation and engagement or driving productivity.
Research Philosophy
In both of the journals mentioned above, we can see that business enterprises appear to be
taking cues from the consumer market and implementing chat technologies to improve
communication and collaboration. There was a movement to be social a few years ago, and
many solutions were offered, for example, WhatsApp, Jive, Podio and many others.
However, it was a step too far for most users since they refused to engage in the needed tasks.
Many people just switched to email as their primary mode of contact. Organizations are now
trying to use these applications as a corporate chat solution, and applications such as WeChat
and WhatsApp are becoming very popular as alternative communication channels. This can
be useful for small teams working on specialized short-term projects or for customer teams
interacting with customers through customer-preferred media. Still, they don't support good
company cooperation and engagement.

Data Collection and Analysis
After the research, Attaran et al., (2019) found that business, personal phones and tablets,
commonly known as Bring Your Device (BYOD), are compatible with corporate chat. This
tendency, however, may lead to the same outcome as ESN solutions. According to Attaran
(2019), 59% of enterprises have implemented BYOD, with 83% allowing BYOD for at least
a portion of their staff. 31% among these companies don't supply mobile phones to any of
their team, 24% issue devices to fewer than 20% of their staff members, and 28% provide
devices to a minimum of 20%. It's just another way for the email to get around. Many
"corporate chat" solutions, rather than replacing email, exacerbate the current communication
problems and fragmented debates that afflict firms. This is ideal for small teams working on
specialized short-term projects and customer care teams interacting with consumers via their
chosen media. However, it does nothing to promote practical corporate cooperation and
involvement or boost overall productivity.
Research Ethics
The research done by the International Journal of Enterprise Information Systems provided
no ethical principle, which is a crucial part of effective communication. Any communication
should adhere to moral norms such as honesty, not causing harm, and treating all parties
fairly. According to Markovic & Salamzadeh (2018), ethical problems must be addressed for
a corporation to communicate effectively. Business owners or workers must be genuine and
honest, communicate without prejudice, speak from personal experience, consider the
receiver's chosen communication channel, seek to comprehend, avoid using a negative tone,
5
and refrain from interrupting people while they speak. Any business that aspires to be morally
and ethically accountable must prioritize ethical communication internally and with the
general public. Ethics in communication helps build credibility, improve decision-making,
and foster trust between the two or more parties. Ethics establishes the foundation for good
and evil, allowing two parties to speak with a fundamental knowledge of expectations. Ethics
are vital in our daily lives and our professional life. We are all advised to make ethical
decisions and use ethical principles in all aspects of our lives.
Findings
We can learn that operation management needs businesses to embrace effective
communication from both articles. Effective communication ensures clarity and promotes
official communication rather than passing information easily misinterpreted. Although the
need to use several means of communication is there, how they work and the long-term
impact on the business is lethal. Corporate companies may believe that implementing chat
will increase corporate communication and cooperation, mainly because many of their
employees already use mobile devices, but is this truly what they want, especially when the
promised productivity improvements aren't realized? Why add another communication
channel when your demands fit the way people operate today, whether you're at the office,
working from home, or travelling frequently? Using a desktop or mobile device to reduce
communication congestion and facilitate efficient cooperation and teamwork is required to
share information and enhance corporate outcomes. Because chat is only one facet of
