Ethical boundary is most important thing in research and scientists should follow the rule
about research limit and be respectful, especially researches about human being or relate to DNA
such as gene-edited babies. However, there have still so many illegal research activities been
going in china. It’s huge ethical issue, because it is dealing the life and changes made in the
germline would be passed down to future generations. Little background of current view point
from professionals as bioethicists and researchers generally believe that human genome editing
for reproductive purpose should not attempted at this time, but that studies that would make gene
therapy safe and effective should continue. According to National Human Genome Research
institute by Medicine in 2017 said “It’s important to have continuing public deliberation and
debate to allow the public to decide whether or not germline editing should be permissible”.
However, because of the ethical problem, there were about 40 countries that discouraged or
banned research on germline editing because of the ethical and safety concerns.
The most purpose of uses of genome editing have so far been in scientific research for
investigate models of human disease. However, with current skills and techniques mostly use for
research only. Technically, genome editing has the potential to alter any DNA sequence, whether
in a bacterium, plant animal or even human being. Academically, it has limitless range of
possible opportunity applicable in living things.
The major positive reason is Tackling and defeating diseases. Numerous people are still
suffering from the most deadly and difficult diseases. If we actively intervene and work on the
development of genetic engineering, we can surely save a lot of people and give better quality of
life to the next generation. The major negative reasons are ethical dilemma and safety concerns
ethical dilemma. The major objection modification is unnatural and amounts to playing God.
They believe that the humans by the millions falling ill and dying prematurely are all perfectly
natural. For the safety slight change made at the smallest level may lead to unexpected results.
Experimenting in little life still in the womb could lead to complications, including miscarriage,
premature birth or even stillbirth- all of which are unthinkable.
The major parties might would relate to this ethical issue is, medical (bio, scientists)
parties and ethical groups. It’s important to them because it directly relate to both sides. For the
medical and scientists, the chance to development their skills are very important and with that
they are more focusing to research and what can they do with this ethical issue. However, for the
ethical society focus on the ethic and human being. They believe the scientists and medial people
try to challenge to the God and also they think the researches are going terribly wrong because
they cutting over the boundary so far.
Resent years, media and show had a growing up proportion of this particular issue, as
opposed genom editing or considers. It because this ethical genome editing can be very sensitive
topic for some group of people. I don’ think is fair and unbiased, but I understand because it can
be affected by politics and society.
As I mention before, the article Human Genome Editing by Medicine. This article talks
about the background of Genome Editing issue and how it developed by different generation and
society’s point of view, and the research in article have pretty same manner as I have, and not
much of bias reporting.

I support to ban the genome editing. Birth is grateful but also need responsibility, and, I
believe there have the boundary and line under God. I understand the technical is improving and
our life is so convenience with many great invention and scientific skills. However, the birth and
life is the only thing we can’t change and need to respect the what we did before.
I use Utilitarian approach, because I focus on overall consequences and background of
issue.
