Please read the following instructions carefully before completing this assignment.

You may complete this assignment in pairs. (Remember, a “pair” consists of exactly two people.) Be sure to write both of your names, otherwise I won’t grade it. Please staple all pages together.

For SPSS problems, answers must be typed in a legible font and double-spaced. Be sure to proof-read, and use proper APA format with respect to decimal places, italicization, etc. Again, use my examples as a guide. Note : Do NOT close your output window. You will save, export, and attach your output to the end of this assignment.

3. Using the datafile Census.sav, answer the following questions.

a. Use SPSS to calculate Z-scores for each participant’s height. What is the range of Z-scores for height in our sample? (2 points)

b. Using your Z distribution table, what percentage of people is taller than Participant #267? (3 points)

c. What percentage of people is shorter than Participant #316? (3 points)

4. Using the datafile HiringStudy.sav, answer the following questions.

a. Use SPSS to calculate Z-scores for the recruiter’s intellect rating for each participant. What is the range of Z-scores for intellect rating in our sample? (2 points)

b. Using syntax, calculate the proportion of individuals who have lower intellect ratings than each participant. What percentage of participants have a higher intellect rating than participant #16? (3 points)

5. Using the datafile Haircut.sav, answer the following questions.

6. Using the datafile AgeWords.sav, answer the following questions.

a. Using the Split File command, split your dataset by Age group. Use SPSS to calculate the Z-scores for the number of words recalled for each participant. What is the mean and standard deviation for numbers of words recalled for each age group? (4 points)

b. Find participant #43. In which age group is this participant? What percentage of participants in that age group recalled more words than this participant? (3 points)

c. Find participant #6. In which age group is this participant? What percentage of participants in that age group recalled fewer words than this participant? (3 points)

7. Copy and paste your output at the end of this assignment. Do NOT attach a saved output file from SPSS; it will not be counted. Instead, right click in your output window and click Export. Choose a file name and where you wish the file to be saved, and press Okay. Your output file will be saved a word document. You can then cut and paste from that document to the end of this assignment. (3 points)
