Subject: Helping a Family
Hello Calgary,
“There are families without food to eat, no money to get groceries, and some without shelters on top of their head”. The Smythes is a family of five. Their home was destroyed after a lightning strike in July. They’re farmers in High River with limited insurance coverage. Three kids, under 8 yrs. of age. They are currently living in a trailer. Alpine was contracted for a project involving the removal of a bungalow and construction of a new residence. Instead of demolishing the old bungalow, the owners of the bungalow decided to donate it to a family in need. There are few things that are needed in order to provide Smythes with proper shelter, including supplies or contracting services.
Contribution:
So far the Smythes have received a lot of help from their community and Alpine Construction. Also, the family’s personal savings have been used to cover the costs of preparing the foundation for the bungalow and relocating the house to Calgary. Judy and Ray Smythe and their neighbours are willing to help with the labour for the house.
Additional Needs:
1. Electricians are needed for rewiring the house (needed May 1- 15, 2019)
2. Plumbers needed (sinks, toilets, showers and such). A High River Home Depot store will donate all plumbing supplies and fixtures (volunteer plumbing contractor services needed May 16-31, 2019).
3. Carpenters to prepare the bungalow so it could be able to move (April 20-30, 2019) and also, needed for any exterior damage caused in moving the house (needed anytime in May 2019).
So Calgary, why not help put a proper roof on top of Smythes. Let show our support and help our fellow Albertans in need. If any companies, contractors or skilled worker would like to show their support by providing Smythes with must needed shelter please feel free to contact me. Thank you each and everyone who have shown their support. Anyone interested in this opportunity, please reach out to Calgary Homebuilders’ Foundation.
