WS 370 Discussion
As you know, I've asked each of you to focus on one of the three chapters by John D'Emilio and Estelle B. Freedman this week.
When you post to this week's discussion, please indicate the chapter to which you're referring in the Subject line. This will make it easier for us to create meaningful connections within chapters.
If you wish to create connections across chapters, please indicate that in your subject line--but if you have different things to say about different chapters, please create separate posts focused on those respective chapters.
Thanks in advance! For this week's quiz, I invite you to use the answer block as a place to focus and brainstorm. Here are some open-ended prompts which may be useful; I look forward to exploring our various takes on the complicated U.S. 19th century together!
What did this chapter provide that contradicted or complicated what you thought you knew? Please provide page number(s) and explain.
Choose a situation or set of facts from the chapter that you might want to discuss with a family member or friend, identify what you'd like to share (including page numbers) and why, and write a bit about how you would present the information and why it might be useful/of interest to them.
If you were inspired to seek more information, or wished the authors had provided more information about a specific topic or person, please identify and explain why (and, if relevant, what you've discovered).
Freestyle question and answer (choose your own adventure related to the chapter of your choice).
