Write a six-page research paper with a cover sheet and a separate works cited page using

the MLA format analyzing a classic novel you were assigned. You may also use aspects from other academic disciplines such as psychology, sociology, philosophy et al to prove your point.

Analytical research paper topics:

· Discuss the popularity regarding your novel. Why do many critics and scholars consider it a “classic novel”? Present textual evidence in the form of direct citations from both the novel and critical sources (MLA format)

· Discuss whether you feel that the assigned novel is either overrated or underrated as a classic novel after reading it and provide examples. Present textual evidence in the form of direct citations from both the novel and critical sources (MLA format)

· Discuss the effect the classic novel assigned to you may have had on other novels of a similar genre or plot. Present textual evidence in the form of direct citations from both the novel and critical sources (MLA format)

· Discuss how the novel assigned represents a “coming of age” or maturity among the young protagonists. Present textual evidence in the form of direct citations from both the novels and critical sources (MLA format)

Instructions for the research:

Remember that it is essential to use both primary (the book itself) and secondary sources (critical articles) for your citations and textual evidence. Secondary sources should only support and enrich your analysis of the novels (primary sources)! Also, you may want to schedule an interview with an expert on your subject.
