• It is to be 3 paragraphs, at least 400 words.

I. Using one or more Web Browsers (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) find at least 2 (TWO) urls of

pages to use for the written report outlined here. Not Wikipedia..

This report is to center on the Turing Award given each year in Computer Science.

I will email you which Turing Award winner to use for your report.

Outline for the report:

(Please have one paragraph for each item 1-3 and put the paragraphs in this order

- at least 300 total words)

1. Briefly describe the Turing Award. What is it? When did it begin? Who is it

named for?

2. Give the name of the winner (include the year) you are doing along with a

brief biography

3. Briefly, why did this person receive the Turing Award? This should include

several contributions he/she made to the field of Computing.

4. At the bottom of your report list the URLs of the pages where you got your

information:

II. Notes:

• Turnitin accepts a variety of formats, Word or PDF are easy ones to use.

• You do not have to use a formal formatting technique – like MLA, etc.

• If you use a quote, simply number your URLs and use that number with your quotation.

• Your report is to be submitted to Turnitin using the link in Moodle. o Turnitin will compare your summary to stored student papers, Internet

articles and journals. Please be sure that you have 30% similarity or less when

Turnitin gives you the report on your document. Fewer direct quotations will give

you a lower percentage. You can modify and resubmit your summary to lower the

similarity as long as you do it before the due date.

Your grade will be based on:

• having 3 paragraphs as specified

• total words > 400

• at least 2 urls

• similarity of 30% or less
