Personal Progress-Narrowing Down
That said, I’d like to offer a few important reminders and suggestions to help you continue strengthening your work:
1. Citing Course Materials
When referencing course readings or instructional resources, be sure to cite and reference them appropriately. This not only demonstrates academic integrity but also helps you build a strong foundation for your dissertation literature review. Even brief mentions of concepts like triangulation or SCRD should be supported by citations to the original source or course material where you encountered them. Provide APA references for each source reviewed and included in the synthesis of insight.
2. Use of Current Literature
While your inclusion of Ray (2015) and Bossenbroek et al. (2020) is helpful, I encourage you to prioritize more recent sources (ideally from the last 3 to 5 years) as you continue building your source library. Mental health trends, social media usage, and student behavior evolve rapidly, and staying current will help you:
· Identify gaps in the literature.
· Align your study with emerging research priorities.
· Ensure your findings are relevant to today’s academic and clinical contexts.
Continue building your literature base to support your rationale, highlighting the need for further study due to the omission of insightful investigations thus far, faulty assumptions, the theoretical value that informs the topic, and recommendations for this type of study from existing literature. I hope this feedback is helpful. Please reach out if you have any lingering questions.
