Historical event
The historical event selected involves the assassination of JFK. The event is significant because it marked a shift in the state of security that is accorded to a sitting president of the country (Bodroghkozy, 2020). The historical incident known evokes feelings of surprise and uncertainty regarding the possibility that a President of the country might be murdered notwithstanding the existence of the best possible security accorded. The incident is noteworthy in the sense that it influenced the current degree of security that the president of the United States receives.
Secondary sources
Secondary sources of information offer a researcher access to second-hand information. The majority of second-hand sources interpret, describe, analyze or evaluate information from a primary source. Two primary sources of information that I can use in this research involve peer-reviewed journal articles and documentaries about the incident.
Primary sources
A primary source of information will enable me to obtain direct evidence about the historical incident. The primary sources will involve video footage of the incident and performing interviews with appropriate individuals to obtain direct evidence about the incident. Furthermore, information obtained from these sources will be authentic and reliable.
Research question
How did the assassination of JFK change the security accorded to the sitting president?
Thesis
In this paper, I argue that the assassination of JFK altered in a great way the security provided to a sitting president including the addition and expansion of the secret service, using advanced technology in security, and the removal of open limousines as argued by (Kallche, 2018).
