PowerPoint Presentation of an Assigned Composer Title: PowerPoint Presentation of an Assigned Composer Overview: Students are required to present to the class (in the form of a PowerPoint presentation) a piece of music (not previously discussed in class) composed by their assigned composer. An annotated bibliography with a minimum of three (3) sources cited (books, journals, or web links) would also be due at the time of the presentation (Week 15; 12-Week Session: Week 12). Details: The presentation should contain of the following:
Opening slide with your presentation title, your name and the date
2-3 slides with interesting information about your composer. Incorporate history about the composer, particulars about their career including musical influences, most significant contribution, and any other information you would like to add
2-3 slides that analyze the musical elements (melody, rhythm, instrumentation, etc.). Place some of the song lyrics (if any) on the slide to support your analysis.
A final slide with a link to your composer’s website, and a reference list.
Requirements: In addition to the PowerPoint, students are required to submit an annotated bibliography with a minimum of three (3) sources cited (books, journals, or web links). Only include quality references that contained information about your artist. Please note, sites like Wikipedia and Answers.com are not considered reliable academic sources and will not be accepted. On-campus students will have 5-10 minutes to present their composer in class. Online students will be required to upload their PowerPoint presentation to the Discussion Board in Blackboard.
