Im writing about how weed affects or can effect college students

1) I need a headline that sums up the question im exploring. Can also be in a format of a question.

2) A lede paragraph that is in format of the story that gives a glimpse to what the whole piece is about.

3) A “nut graph” that explains whats the story about.( in second or third or paragraph). This should answer who cares. This can be personal, but should contextualize your experiences in a larger context. This should probably have your most important data.

4) An expert “ I need 1 more quote for this story, you can make it up, but please make it sound like its coming from a doctor.

(LEAD)Pot smoking has always been common among college students. Pot smoking had a very big impact on my life and it affected my college life in many different ways. Pot smoking became a big part of my life when I moved to Los Angeles and started going to college.

(NUTGRAPH, I NEED A STRONG DATA FOR THIS PART)There are thousands of vulnerable college students out there, and I want them to be more careful, and I want people to become more self aware. They need to be educated on cannabis more deeply because it can destroy your life if you don't be careful. It's not something fully safe when it's used on a daily basis.

Legal marijuana is now a $6.7 billion a year industry. After January 2018, Los Angeles is expected to bring at least $50 million in taxes to coffers next year. Even though marijuana is going to be legalized, Los Angeles is not going to be the next Amsterdam, meaning the cafes and lounges are hold back for now. In this case, many of the cannabis users are going to be able to purchase cannabis, but they're not going to be able to have a safe and a legal place to smoke in Los Angeles. It's and in the future it'll still be illegal for pot shops to allow marijuana consumption on site. It's also illegal, under state law, to consume it in a public place.

When I first started using weed it was just harmless but after two years of usage my life started going in a different direction. I wouldn't even go to school. I would smoke and play video games every single day. I would wake up and the first thing I would 9moke, then I would get food from a fast food chain. I would only eat out and I wouldn't eat anything before getting high because I felt like I was wasting the food. I gained so much weight in that period of my life and I had very unhealthy lifestyle. I sometimes thought I wouldn't do anything without getting hight, except for going to school. Smoking too much weed almost ruined my life.

“It’s what my friends use as a reason to hangout or something that is always present in my social circles,” Jace Williams said. It was giving me anxiety at one point, but that went away randomly, so I think it depends what your baseline mental health is like and how marijuana can feed on that.

There hasn't been any studies conducted how marijuana affecting students, overall, some studies do point lower grades for students who smoke regularly. However, responsible use of cannabis can benefit students in many ways. The key issue is not if, but how do people decide to consume cannabis. You can use cannabis for fun, for relaxation, medical relief and etc.

“A lot of the people I socialize with smoke marijuana and I smoke it daily to manage manage chronic pain. People tend to have a negative connotation with it, which keeps me from being too open about it around others but really, it doesn't matter. Not a lot of people being too strict,” Alejandra Ramirez said. “I think it affects my mental health positively as long as I'm not too high all the time.”

One in every 22 students smoked on a daily or near-daily basis, up from 3.5% in 2007, according to the Monitoring the Future study. In 2015, 38% of college students indicated that they used marijuana in the last year, up from 30% in 2006.

Weed and alcohol are separable because there is a guidance on alcohol amount you can consume without getting drunk. On the other hand, it's very difficult for police or users themselves to know if someone is too high to drive.

Dr.B, a doctor at a medical center in Venice said, “Couple weeks ago, I denied one guy to get a card here because he didn't have enough money for the card and the letter. That was the only time I denied someone to get a medical card. It's going to become legal very soon anyways. All in all, some people of Los Angeles and the police force need to stop treating pot smokers as criminals. The weed overshadows all the other drugs but it's not dangerous.”

I want people to know that, nobody has to rely on any kind of substance to have fun or be okay. There is other ways to keep your energy and mood in a good state of mind without taking any substances. Weed is devil's drug, if you don't have enough control over yourself, it might break you but if you be careful and use it wisely to have fun or cure your chronic pain on weekends, it might help you.
