Some Thoughts and Questions to Consider:
What is your topic? Why should we care about it?
What questions do you have about your topic that you want your research to answer?
What is most interesting about your topic?
How does your topic relate to the themes, ideas, artists, etc discussed in class?
What is the best way to present your topic?
What can you reference for further research by others interested in your topic?
Please practice your brief presentation to ensure you stay on time and are fully prepared.
I recommend using art magazines (like Art Forum, Art in America, Juxtapoz, etc), art websites (ArtSlant, Hyperallergic, etc), and art books to explore your topic. I have some books and magazines that may be of help to you and which you can borrow, if you are on campus. The campus library also has a lot of useful resources. Beyond that, consider examining a specific topic in depth (like the development of protest art, environmental art, architectural idiosyncrasies, etc). When developing your presentation, remember to ask yourself: why should a 21st century American care about your topic?
