Business report
World Development Indicators Exploratory Study Background & Purpose:
Being an analytics expert at a Central Bank you have been given a partial set of World Development Indicators (WDI) dataset published by the World Bank. The dataset consists of historical data from over 50 years. You have been asked to prepare an insightful report on the economic performance of the selected countries by developing both predictive and exploratory models as detailed below. Business Analytics Applications: descriptive analytics, regression, and forecasting models. Guidelines: Format: Business report for the Central Bank to assist in monetary policy and understand contributing factors to economic development (3,500 words max)
1. Executive summary – one-paragraph overview of the full project including a summary of the results
2. Introduction – set the scene and background research exploration and what specific topics will be addressed through this investigation
3. Methodology – discuss the rationale and planned steps for your analytics process (i.e., details of descriptive analytics and preparatory steps you plan to do to employ the specific analytics techniques (Multiple Regression, Simple Logistic Regression and Forecasting Models) – DO NOT include any results in this section)
4. Body and analysis structure the key outputs as follows:
a. 10 Key interesting insights drawn from the data and any link(s) to the extant literature
b. Multiple Regression(LINEAR): Selection of response and independent variables (any links to literature), final model, explanation of the model output and interpretation
c. Logistic Regression: Selection of response and independent variables (any links to literature), final model, explanation of the model output and interpretation Clue: Use Columns X or Y as the response variable
d. Forecasting: Analysis of the historical trends and any underlying factors to forecast the economic performance for three years and specify the confidence level
6. Conclusions – wrap up the exercise with key insights, and advice to the Chief of the Central Bank on any improvements required for the data collection, what additional data may be required to draw enhanced insights and improve the modelling process.
7. Reflection on the lessons learned and how you foresee employing the gained knowledge and skills in your work environment.
