Workshop: Quality Research Workshop
Considering that social cognition was my favorite and chosen topic for this workshop, it is critical to refine the research questions and problems revolving around how one can interpret other people’s feelings and emotions. So to do, I must begin by asking hypothetical questions like what if? I must ask how this topic will fit into the larger context of my research. I must ask questions reflecting disagreements with a source I applied to (Winter & Cross, 2020). I must ask questions that will build on the agreements with the source, and also, I must also ask questions about the nature of the topic itself and an independent entity.
For instance, the nature of this topic can be connoted as follows: social cognition involves various processes that are engaged in perceiving other persons and how we can come to know about such persons in the world today (Winter & Cross, 2020). Therefore, when we specialize in studying mental processes, we must understand that we must involve our perceptions, thoughts and even our abilities to attend to other people's social world.
Therefore, In terms of our research question, we can specialize in the mental processes involved in acquiring knowledge and understanding in a person. They are the cognitive processes that must include how the person is thinking, what the person knows, what the person is capable of remembering, judging, and how they can solve problems. Doing so will help us determine the highest level of functions of the brain and its encompassing language, imagination, perception and even learning (Winter & Cross, 2020). So to refine the topic, ideas, questions, and all that encompassing the research, I must adhere to the mentioned instance, which are the major components of the topic.
