The term rape culture describes a society or environment whose prevailing social attitudes have the effect of normalizing or trivializing sexual assault and abuse. This is often reinforced through small actions and everyday interactions that normalize a power imbalance. The short story "The Husband Stitch" illustrates this through the relationship between the narrator and her husband. Discuss how the story illustrates this concept of rape culture. |
