Add a Works Cited Page to Your PowerPoint Presentation As you write your PowerPoint presentation, you will be including information that you find from other

sources, and these sources of information must be credited. When you use quotations from or detailed

summaries of other people’s work, you must specify the source of the information. The following

instructions will explain how to gather a list of your sources and then how to automatically create a

Works Cited page to add to your PowerPoint presentation.

1. As you research your topic, keep a detailed list of any source you reference in your presentation.

These details can be collected and stored in the Manage Sources feature in Word:

a. Type of source (Book, Article, or Website)

b. Full title of the work, or name of web page, web site, and URL

c. Name of the author, or authors (To cite a book by two or more authors, reverse only the

name of the first author, separate the author names with a comma, and place a period

after the name of the last author)

d. Date of publication

e. Place of publication if a book

f. Type of Medium (Print, Web, Performance, or Photograph)

2. Open a new Word document

3. Click the References tab

4. In the Citations & Bibliography group, be sure to select MLA in the Style box

5. Click Manage Sources

6. In the middle of the Source Manager dialog box click New

7. In the Create Source dialogue box, fill out the information regarding your source

8. Click OK when you are finished with your first source

9. The source you added is now displayed in the Source Manager dialogue box under Current List

For this project you are only concerned with the Current List

10. Continue adding sources by following the previous steps (5-8)

11. After you have entered all your sources, in the Citations & Bibliography group click the

Bibliography arrow

12. In the drop-down box, click Works Cited

13. Center the Works Cited title

14. Save your Word document

15. Add your Works Cited document to your PowerPoint presentation

a. Open your PowerPoint presentation

b. On the Home tab in the Slides group, click the New Slide arrow and then click Blank to

add a new blank slide

c. On the Insert tab in the Text group click Object. In the Insert Object dialog box click the

Create from file button

d. Click Browse and navigate to where you saved your Works Cited Word document, select

your document and click OK twice
