The company for which you work is considering allowing the call center employees to work from home three days a week. Because of the everchanging nature of business and growing workforce, you have been asked to write a memorandum as to why this rapidly growing trend may or may not benefit the company overall. Based on your research, you will offer recommendations to your management team.

Are remote workers more productive than in-office workers?
1. Format your text. The entire document must be double- spaced. Set one-inch margins on the sides, top and bottom. Your document will be aligned to the left, with a one- inch indent at the beginning of each paragraph.
2. APA style demands a serif font, meaning there are extra flourishes in the letters that make them easier to read. Times New Roman is a popular serif font.
3. Put the company name at the top of the document (unless you’re using company letterhead), followed by either the title of the memo or the words “Internal Memorandum.”
4.
Create a typical memo opening, such as (this is an example):
TO: John Smith
FROM: Laura Doe
DATE: November 3, 2019
SUBJECT: Current office capacity
Note that the field headers are in uppercase.
5. Provide the data or information in the body of the memo. Only include information that is relevant and keep the sentences concise. When providing a table of data, choose a format that’s easy to read. Clarify the information provided in the table with factual details in paragraphs below your table.
6. If you’re referencing a research paper, use the author- date citation system. Use the authors surname and the date the research paper was published within the sentence or in parenthesis.
At the bottom of the memo, create a reference list that includes the author’s name, publication date, title of the study and publication data cited.
7. Close the memo with a positive and friendly note. Do not sign your name.
8. See chapters 9 and 10 Routine Business Messages and Persuasive Messages.
9. See Appendix A Punctuation, Number Usage and Grammar
10. See Appendix B Formatting for Letters and Memos
11. Refer to page 412 Table 13.3 in the Business Communication textbook -References in APA and MLA Documentation Styles.
