Working Remotely
Imagine not having to go to the workplace to work. Working remotely is basically not commuting to the workplace but completing work tasks from anywhere be it at your home or while traveling. Work does not need to be done in a specific place. It can be done successfully from anywhere. I am one of the people advocating for working remotely. Having had the experience of a strained relationship with my family, I highly value working remotely so that I can balance my work and private life. Working remotely is not only important to me just to balance my work and family life, but also reduce my carbon footprint and save money.
Working remotely enables me to meet both my work and family responsibilities. As a parent, as much as I must meet my work responsibilities, I also need to meet my family responsibilities including having a good relationship with my children and being involved in their lives. Initially, I used to work in a traditional office, and I found myself having to make difficult choices between my work and family. As a result of my work, I ended up having a strained relationship with my children since I was absent in their lives. I had no time to get involved in their activities because of my work. After I got another job where I had the option of working remotely, I got to get involved in my children’s life and my relationship with them greatly improved. By working from home, I found more time to be involved in my children’s activities, I was always present when my children got back from school, and I got more time to spend with them. Thus, working remotely has enabled me to meet my work responsibilities and at the same time my family obligations.
I am passionate about the environment and that is why working remotely is close to my heart since it enables me to reduce my carbon footprint. Working remotely, especially working from home, makes it easier for me to lessen my carbon footprint. Many people may ask how. This is how I reduce my carbon footprint by working remotely. By working remotely, I do not commute to my workplace and this means I do not use my car. As such, I reduce my carbon dioxide emissions. Also, working remotely means less office waste. Working remotely means I use digital tools to get my work done and this translates to less paper and disposable items. Thus, working remotely is a way for me to reduce my carbon footprint and contribute to environmental wellbeing.
In addition to enabling me to balance my work and personal life and reduce my carbon footprint, working remotely is a way of saving money. For the few months I have been working remotely, I have managed to save 2,000 dollars. I have been able to save on gas and car maintenance costs and food. Working in the traditional office necessitates changing wardrobe now and then. While I was working in a traditional office, I used to buy clothes and shoes at least every end of the month. I never used to do my laundry. I paid someone to do that for me. However, since I began working remotely, I do not need to buy clothes and shoes each month and I have time to do my laundry. This has enabled me to save a few dollars.
In conclusion, working remotely is something I value highly since it enables me to meet my work and family responsibilities, contribute to environmental wellbeing, and save a few dollars. By working remotely, I do not have to worry about how I will create time for my children, how I am contributing to environmental degradation, and how I am spending too much on gas and clothing. Thus, working remotely could be a great thing.
