For this week’s discussion I decided to watch the New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders game on Monday night.  It was not my first choice, but I forgot what happened during the Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboys game on Sunday (please do not remind me), so this was my backup.  As I was watching both teams play, I noticed that sponsor banners were placed on seats where fans would normally sit.  Each of the sponsor banners were the same size and color scheme.  I know they had a banner for Ford, Allegiant (weird with as big as the stadium is), Coors Light, and Credit One Bank (Shaffer, 2020).  They could have done a better job with these signs by adding a pop of color as everything else seemed so dark and blended in with each other.

The reason I noticed these signs was because they were on seats and I actually thought it was good use of space but did not think the color scheme was well thought out (maybe they intended for them to match).  Each of the sponsors have their own logo which I did not believe gave one sponsor an advantage over the other.  In some cases that is probably done on purpose.  However, I honestly forgot what some of the companies were until I conducted a little bit of research.  The one I remembered most was Allegiant because I thought it was odd to have a banner when they had the entire stadium, second was Ford, and beyond that I was at a loss.  I knew there was a credit card banner, yet I could not remember the name.

To be honest, I did not feel as though any of them “stuck out” in a big way but I believe that there was one company that hit the nail on the head from an advertising standpoint.  This company is Gatorade and was the winner in the sponsorship standout contest for me.  Although they did not have anything over the top, you could see towels, bottles, and containers holding the water bottles every time the camera was pointed toward the sidelines.  The distinct colors stood out from all of the other monotone colors around it.  I found a video clip of the game, located on the Saints Official Web Site, where you can clearly see at seven seconds into the clip what I mean about the bright orange color and “Gatorade” behind the players (neworleanssaints.com, 2020).

For future events, I think what can be done is for event organizers to use bright colors.  Instead of having signs and/or banners run together, they could give them some space as well.  They could use something other than banners that are sitting around and maybe go electronic where the logos are flashing, so that they catch one’s eye.  I do understand that there are not any fans present, but even on a screen, people can “see” when screens change.  The banners just seemed to get lost in the seats to me.

Good week everyone, I hope this week has found you all healthy and congrats to you all on finishing another class towards a great accomplishment.

For this week I chose the Lakers- Nuggets game 4 in Orlando, with so many sponsorship's' to choose from with the NBA trying to keep some money coming in to keep from losing money from this crazy year I chose the AT&T 5G sponsorship. The logo is pasted everywhere inside the "bubble". There has been commercials every commercial break flooding the market to ensure that those of use watching the game know that 5G will soon be availble for AT&T customers.

With this being the Nuggets home courts the emblems look better than they did on Lakers floor they blend better.

I am not sure how if the Black Lives Matter group actually sponsors the court or the NBA sponsors them either way I think its a good way to recognize the mission to raise awareness for equality.

The only way to really get better is to get back to opening up to fans, I think the NBA is winning the restart of Sports, with the digital fans and the bubble.
