In this case study “Patient Safety, Quality, Health Literacy, Clinician-Patient Communication” the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ’s) relies on educational materials called “Questions Are the Answers” to improve communication among physicians, patients, and patients’ families.1 It was designed to boost patients to ask questions during their medical visits. They found increased in the level of efficiency and improvements in patient engagement after few months of implementation. Clear communication among healthcare providers and patients was the health literacy issue addressed in the study. To resolve the problem of communication, it is important for healthcare professionals to avoid any medical jargon, make sure to write and speak with short sentences, and be aware of their tone. In addition, delivering information in the form and with the content that is available to particular audiences based on cultural respect.2
