Introduction

Jodi Arias was found guilty for killing her ex-boyfriend and was sentenced to life in prison in 2015. Jodi killed her boyfriend by stabbing him at-least twenty-four times, slit his throat and shot him in the head. Initially, Arias tried to place blame on intruders but her DNA was found a number of times on the scene. Afterwards, she confessed to killing her boyfriend because she claims he had been emotionally and physically abusing her (Crimesder S. 2013). However by analyzing the facts of the Battered Woman’s Syndrome, it is clear that the suspect was not suffering from BWS nor PTSD as she tried to claim.

Body

Jodi Arias gave a number of stories on her involvement in the death of Alexander. She began by claiming that she did not have knowledge or involved in the murder. She later changes her claim that they were invaded by attackers who killed him and later claimed that it was out of self-defense.

The method used to kill Alexander shows that it was not self-defense. Alexander suffered a number of injuries, stabbed in the head, stabbed a number of times and neck severed. An individual can only use a certain level of force in self-defense if one genuinely believes that the serious level of threat has been posed (HG, 2020). Arias method of killing Alexander was intentional. It tends to be carried out in a reckless manner, in a voluntary manner, and under the heat of passion.

Arias as well confesses that she murdered Alexander during a violent argument. She says that she accidently pulled the trigger in self defense when he charged at her in a rage. However the way Arias describes this instance she appears to be more of a suspect. If she was genuinely in fear, irrational, Arias should have stated that she intentionally shot him out of fear once she recalled the past abuse. In addition there was no proof that Arias had been experiencing flashbacks of abuse or nightmares (Archer, 2013).

Conclusion

From the description above, Jodi Arias had not been suffering from Battered Women Syndrome. In this paper I will explain why I chose the route of Battered Women Syndrome. I will explain what Jodias crime was, how haneious the crime is, and unfold the way the murder happened. Her actions were intentional and were conducted with great passion. It is far above reasonable doubt that she intentionally killed her ex-boyfriend, Arias with premeditation.
