Racial inequality is defined as an imbalance in the distribution of power, resources, and opportunities in different areas in a country. Racial inequality can be demonstrated through wealth disparities, poverty, high unemployment rates in some areas, bankruptcy, crime levels, and unequal house patterns in areas. African Americans face the problem of racial inequality through the torturing of the Black Americans by lack of resource distribution, lack of education, lack of freedom for their rights, and poverty. According to Pager (2008), males have been treated as second-class netizens for decades in the societies of African Americans. The males in African America have been experiencing vulnerability, especially those from low social class, due to lack of experience for the human potentiality since they are not allowed to explore due to racial inequality. The lives of people experiencing racial inequality are made up of injustices and lack of development that leads to widening racial gaps in income, wealth, education, family structure, and stability.
Racial inequality policy is aimed to reduce the cases of victimization and denial of justice to people experiencing racial discrimination. Despite having a law like the Equality Act 2010 that protects Black Americans from exploitation and racial discrimination, it is necessary to have a racial inequality policy that withstands protecting their rights. According to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (2021), the racial inequality policy aims to have an actionable plan that highlights the need for the rights and justices of people to avoid discrimination and enhance respect through racial equality. Racial inequity policy is established to ensure that the identified group of people in a particular area experiencing racial inequality can be protected by complying with the policy.
The selection of the racial inequality policy is based on the need to contemplate improving the education system and enhancement of criminal justice reforms. According to Ciszek et al. (2018), the selection was based on how many African Americans face racial inequality due to the White culture. Therefore, the selected policy was aimed to promote racial equality. The racial inequality policy that I selected was aimed to promote change regarding the racial inequality problem. The actionable plan had to be established to ensure that people are protected despite their ethnicity or color; hence it is suitable to comply with the policy.
Mexico and South Africa are the countries that enacted the racial inequality policy that aimed to prohibit racial profiling and racial discrimination. The main reason to advocate for the racial inequality policy was to ensure that the countries have peace through respecting the rights of others despite the differences in the societies. The motivation was to reduce the cases of racial profiling and discrimination against people in those countries. Their enation of the policy differs from my perspective since I chose the policy to ensure that the education system is improved to enhance criminal justice to eliminate racial inequality. At the same time, the countries enacted it to ensure that racial profiling and discrimination are prohibited.
The impact of the racial inequality policy on a country's population is that it enhances the promotion of peace and unity to people. The country that ensures that the racial inequality policy is enacted protects people from racial discrimination. The racial disparities are reduced since the unlawful activities will have to be addressed, and in case someone is found guilty, then it is considered a violation of the law (Pager, 2008). The consequences of violating the law can be intentional or unintended. The violation of the law or the policy requires the punishment to be enacted to the person found guilty of breaking the law. The consequence included a defined fine and imposing jail term that is not less than five years. The policy affects the clients in the clinical setting since, if the inequality is promoted, some of the patients would not have adequate services. The client may face a lack of accurate description of drugs, resulting in severe illness. Therefore, it would be necessary for the clinical officers to advocate for the racial inequality policy to ensure that patients and staff are protected from racial discrimination and disparities like resource distribution.
The initial work to change the policy must be concerning the plan for social advocacy. The inclusive process must require the inputs of the relevant stakeholders like the criminal justice leaders, policymakers, and the members of the society. The restructuring and change of the policy require implementing a strategy to be employed effectively to ensure that the concepts used are bringing people together despite their race (Ciszek et al., 2018). A community-based initiative program should be incorporated into the policy to create awareness. The federal and state policy is to be advocated to ensure that the restructuring of policy ensures that the injustices are reduced.
