Implementing Change Business Case
Business Interview
Phone Interview with XYZ Manager
Marlina: Good afternoon sir, I am a student from MBA working on a business case for change management. I was hoping you would help with information about the recent management changes that took place in your company.
Manager: Good morning, I am more than willing to help with the project. I am the manager at the XYZ Corporation.
Marlina: Very well, I have some questions I want to ask regarding change management.
Manager: Sure thing.
Marlina: Why did the company reconsider making changes of the mission statement?
Manager: The mission statement at the XYZ Company needed to be changed so as to improve performance, and gain a competitive advantage. Lack of a clear strategic vision can lead to a decrease in organization performance and even failure. The company changed the focus from becoming the top firm to remaining the top firm in the industry. Changing the vision served as a framework to work on other strategic areas of management. It has been one of our best strategic management tools over the decades.
Marlina: What is the most recent change management strategy incorporated in the company?
Manager: The most recent change strategy used in the company was leadership. The new C.E.O changed the finance, marketing and operating officers to improve growth through the shuffling. This was a major change in the management team because there were so many risks that had been posed by the retired C.E.O. It was time to do explore new talents in those departments.
Marlina: What are some of the benefits the company has gained from SWOT Analysis as a strategic tool?
Manager: At XYZ, SWOT Analysis is a detrimental tool that has played a major role in strategic planning. SWOT analysis has been used in identifying internal and external factors that responsible for the company’s current financial, management and operations position. This tool is useful in the alignment of internal environment with external forces. This is the time when we identify areas of improvement based on the weaknesses analysed and even helps in making changes where necessary.
Marlina: Thank you Mr. X for your cooperation and time. It was a valuable experience.
Manager: Very well.
