 Are red flag laws sufficient for preventing violent crime? Why or why not?  To what degree are red flag laws constitutional?

Week Five Discussion: Red Flag Laws Hello Everyone, I do not know if a red flag law prevents a violent crime, if it may help it is in a minúte way? If someone wants to harm someone, they will, gun or not! There are many ways to harm another person from knives to bombs and people with mental illness prove this every day. I think it is up to the people who are around someone with an obvious mental disorder to pay attention and know if this person is capable of using a gun to hurt someone. Or if someone is in a domestic relationship and one of the people is getting threatened and beaten by their partner, the people in their life need to pay mind to this. Whether or not taking someone’s gun rights away will stop them from hurting themselves or another will not necessarily help. The only thing that does is open doors to take an American, on violent felon’s Constitutional right away. I just do not see what it is preventing. A reg flag law is a law allowing courts to prevent people who show signs of being a danger to themselves or to others from having access to firearms. This is done by ordering the seizure of weapons (Merriam-Webster, n.d.). An amendment to the Constitution can only be undone by a law from either Congress or state legislatures if and only if, another amendment and that includes the approval of three-fourths of the states allow it (Pease, 2019). In my opinion for this to work and not violate constitutional rights, it would have to be to an extremity. For instance, police getting called out to a home where someone is threatening to kill themselves with a gun repeatedly or a person has threatened someone’s life multiple times using a gun. Besides, most friends and family members being witness to this behavior. The reason I think this is because people who have a mental illness are already not allowed to buy a gun or possess a firearm. So, any access to one could fall on the person who is a friend, family member, and/or peer who allowed them access to one or to the criminal who illegally sold or gave one to them. The responsibility of someone who has a mental illness that should have their gun rights taken away falls on the people in their life (they are mentally ill), what do they understand about the legality or reasoning behind their acts? Right?
