The types of administrative and managerial processes that clinical supervisors usually involve themselves in are more so the day to operations of the organization, the over view of the staff and any concerns that involve the staff that is a part of the agency, and depending on the "open door" policy that is in place, the complaints that are presented by staff that work under their care. The administrative and managerial processes are the heartbeat of what keeps the organization pumping, or the flowing (Bernard, & Goodyear, 2014).

Because the administrative and managerial processes are quite complex, they could affect the clinical supervision relationship greatly. The clinical supervision relationship can be affected by the there being a lack of direct contact between the supervisor and the supervisee, not being able to respond to questions in the moment, and/or having to wait to receive information that pertinent that may have to wait. As most administrative and managerial processes may affect the quality of the experience, finding ways to communicate with the supervisor should be established once the acceptance to the agency has been agreed upon (Kreider, 2014).

Clinical supervisors are tasked with balancing a variety of professional roles, some of them complex, to include administrative and managerial.. Bernard & Goodyear comment, “The clinical supervisor has a dual investment in the quality of services offered to clients and the professional development of the supervisee; the administrative supervisor, although obviously concerned about service delivery and staff development, must also focus on matters such as communication protocol, personnel concerns, and fiscal issues” (2013, p. 262-263). However, performing these roles present complicating, overlapping factors that may impact the clinical supervisory relationship. Firstly, from a supervisee’s perspective, the critical relationship can suffer due to failure satisfying 6 supervisory areas: providing an equitable relationship, clarifying expectations, attending and/or assessing supervisee needs, providing standards of accountability, purposeful continuity, and meet proper supervisory preparedness requirements. With all of that said, it is important to highlight the need for clinical supervisors have clear and purposeful organization guiding delivery of their roles. For example, the guidelines set forth by the American Psychological Association (2014) Code of Ethics, the American Counseling Association, and the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision sections concerning multiple roles.
