a) Introduction:

Thesis statement: Marijuana use in adolescents has serious negative effects on their mental health.

b). Research Questions

I. What are the effects of marijuana use on the mental health of adolescents?

II. What is the role of social workers in helping adolescents overcome marijuana use and its effects?

c). Short-term Effects of Marijuana use on the Mental Health of Adolescents

The short-term effects on the mental health of adolescents include impaired judgement, altered attention, impaired short memory, impaired balance and coordination, and paranoia.

d). Long-term effects of marijuana use on the mental health of Adolescents.

The long-term effects include high chances of marijuana addiction, increased risk of bronchitis and chronic cough, potential of loss of memory, increased risk of schizophrenia.

e). The role of social workers in helping Adolescents to overcome the Problem.

Social workers can provide counseling services, can recommend rehabilitation where necessary, and create awareness of the problem to the adolescents.
