Thesis statement: Marijuana use in adolescents has serious negative effects on their mental health.
b). Research Questions
I. What are the effects of marijuana use on the mental health of adolescents?
II. What is the role of social workers in helping adolescents overcome marijuana use and its effects?
c). Short-term Effects of Marijuana use on the Mental Health of Adolescents
I. Depression and stress (Blest-Hopley et al. 2020).
II. Impaired judgement (Lawn et al., 20222).
III. Anxiety (Lawn et al., 20222).
IV. Altered attention (Gobbi et al., 2019).
V. Short memory (Blest-Hopley et al. 2020).
VI. Impaired coordination and balance.
VII. Paranoia (Hall, et al., 2020).
d). Long-term effects of marijuana use on the mental health of Adolescents.
I. Increased chances of marijuana addiction (Blest-Hopley et al. 2020).
II. Increase risk of bronchitis (Blest-Hopley et al. 2020).
III. Chronic cough (Gobbi et al., 2019).
IV. Potential loss of memory (Frolli et al., 2021).
V. Increased risk of schizophrenia (Blest-Hopley et al. 2020).
e). The role of social workers in helping Adolescents to overcome the Problem.

f). Conclusion
Cannabis use in adolescents can be linked to mental health effects that can affect their growth and development. Social workers have a role to play in helping adolescents avoid cannabis use and overcome the mental health effects that stem from consumption of cannabis.
