Which of Bronski’s chapters for this week did you find particularly useful/intriguing? Please explain in a couple of paragraphs what stands out for you as well as how it bolsters our collective understanding of the American 19thcentury and/or the history of sexualities.

Discuss a few ways the increasingly urban landscape of the eastern United States created changing opportunities for people to live independently of their nuclear families and to be sexually active in culturally non-standard ways (either heterosexually outside the normative boundaries of courtship and marriage at the time or with members of the same sex), AND/OR to embrace non-cisgender lives for themselves.
