The social institution I chose to write my essay about is the Government. The social problem or issue is concerning their misuse of power for personal and monetary gain and to keep the so-called lesser people down. I chose this issue because it is far time for prejudices of all kinds to stop. Therefore, the Government is my main topic and I will do all I can to voice my concerns along with some found truths as to how problematic this situation has become.

My confidence level is very high right now and I am going to take pleasure in putting my concerns and beliefs in writing. I’m going to try and explain how this country failed and what it can do to get to a level of dignity that will have them able to look at themselves and be proud of what they’ve done. The social institution is related to the social problem because it is the head of it all. The government allows what can and cannot be done, therefore they are responsible.

I plan to use conflict theory as my main choice in the perspectives and incorporate Symbolic interactionism and functionalism to show how they all could be used to make this country work. I am not a writer or pretend to be, I’m a reader. I go over things in my head and then the last day I put them on paper. This was a great choice for this class, and I am thrilled to be a part of it.
