Professional Development Plan

Part 3: Plan of Study and Program of Study Form

Overall Learning Goals

I have numerous overall goals, however while studying at Walden my goals is to learn with a purpose, be able to apply what I have learned and to accomplish having a 4.0 grade point average.

1. I want to become an effective/ proficient leader.

2. Broadening my knowledge base.

3. Staying connected.

Effective/ Proficient Leader

Being an effective leader is what many want and need in having a successful and productive business. Through the years with different jobs I have been stretched as a leader which forced me to grow. However, before one can become an effective leader one needs to understand what it would take in being one and what it means. Being a leader involves managing projects to employees, from supervising tasks to relationships, leadership is a skill required in every one of these actions. With understanding that even once my degree is completed that I will be faced with more challenges in being an effective leader.

Broadening my Knowledge Base

Everything you do in life is based on what you have learned whether it is visual or hands on. However, it is up to you how you apply and use it effectively. Often times I have learned things but only learned what was needed to pass a test. I have sorted through different possibilities and realized in order for me to be an effective leader and have a successful business the coursework will prepare me. Again, understanding it is up to me to learn with understanding and apply effectively. In having learning goals, it will develop my skills and catapult my career. The course offerings will be used in helping me develop a plan and the basis on starting my non-profit business. Incorporating consistent training and not limiting to specific learning paths.

Staying Connected

Whether it is professional or personal staying connected is important and valuable. It helps with professional development. Being able in having this connection also helps with growth as a person and growth with a company even if it is your own company. In staying connected creating learning experiences that you can learn from and share for to new owners or just to pass on something that was beneficial to your success. Staying connected will help you become confident in dealing with your Twitters, Facebook, Instagram and other web sites. Having this connection does allow one to see their weaknesses so that they can be targeted and enhanced. Certain of the destination of my education, the experiences and encounters will help me be inspired, leader, and a strong connection.

Description of Coursework

However, my approach for each course will increase my knowledge and understanding so that I can apply effectively. Each course will provide more direction for me on how to maintain my business or if I am working for a company. I will be able to have the appropriate resources, references and guidelines to properly seeking and writing grants. My goals for the courses I plan on taking I will apply the resources, and the necessary tools whether it is for personal or business. Even though my learning is through distance learning it will still be effective and proficient in providing the necessary tools needed towards my success. Where I am in my educational path there will be no change in ideas as I move through the program. In having no changes but more so applying more ideas, but we want you to get your creative and resources.
