Visualizing Business Problems
1. Explain what methods will be used to set the parameters for the query.
To begin with, we will first identify the product ID using the name of the product given in the problem. This method is because product ID is one of the primary keys that connects with most of the Production and Sales schema tables. Secondly, we will determine the quantities sold and their prices.
2. Define the specific questions that need to be asked and answered to address the specified business problem.
To get an understanding, we should ask the following questions:
a. How many products are available in stock, and how many are sold daily?
b. Where the product is being stored, and how is communication working. This idea will help address any questions on the productivity and availability of the product.
c. How many products are available in Inventory, and at which location?
3. Explain how the entity-relationship diagram (ERD) was used in addressing questions 1-2 above.
ER diagram is attached above. Production.Product Table is linked with Sales.SalesOrderDetail by ProductID tells us how many items with model 'LL Road Frame-Black 60' were sold and at what unit price. Additionally, we can identify using Production.product inventory Table to know the available quantity of the ‘LL Road Frame - Black, 60’ at each location. Also, we can narrow down our search by including ProductSubcategory Table, which is directly linked to the Product table and Product Category. We will also use Production.Location table to identify the count of products at each location.
4. Describe ethical dilemmas that could be encountered due to the research being done to address the business problem.
DB Administrator's ethical dilemma may be regarding the repercussions of drilling onto any personal information, ultimately leading to criminal activities—for instance, having access to employees, customers, vendors, and management personal and private information. It is essential to establish a code of conduct and perhaps an organization that DBM/DBA affiliates with to ensure professionalism is conducted and scrutinized (Karale, 2021).
5. Explain what resources you will use to assist with addressing ethical dilemmas.
To maintain a high level of professional ethics, we will look forward to identifying potential risks involved and how such situations can be handled within the boundary of law without hampering the company's reputation if I find myself spotting activity that should be reported. This method will enable me to have the confidence and know-how to report abuse or criminal activity by employees. As well as, every organization has a policy guiding such activities; we can always refer them and make sure all the employees go through such training from time to time (Ljubuncic & Litterer, 2019).
