Water Management Plan Voting Rationales
The first idea I voted for is the storm water management whereby the residents of Ashfordton can harvest the rain water by building a dam that can be used to supply water to the residents. I selected the idea because it allows for large scale storm water management measures which ensures that storm water is conserved for household and industrial use. Dams will also prevent flooding as the topography of Ashfordton is flat.
The second idea I voted for is the rooftop rainwater harvesting whereby the water is harvested from the roofs of the residents of Ashfordton and collected by the community whereby it is cleaned and distributed back to the residents for house hold use. I selected this idea because it is cheap and each member of the community can adopt it in their homes ensuring they have water when they need it. It also ensures that each member of the community contributes by following the sustainable drinking water access measures.
The final idea I voted for refers to the construction of a rain garden by the residents of Ashfordton to collect rain water runoff. Once the water is collected, it can be used by the community during the dry summer months. I selected this idea because it is relatively cheaper as compared to building a dam and it allows for communities to store water and use it within the community reducing a reliance on scares rain or tap water.
