High Turnover
Starbucks is a wonderful experience to be apart of. There is incredible teamwork and extreme diversity. All employees feel welcome and there are no major issues with discrimination or glass ceilings as seen with other organizations. However, there is a high amount of turnover. In the year that I served as a part-time employee, I saw more new faces within my shop than I thought was comfortable. Additionally, customers commented on the frequent change.

Change Management Plan
Local community partnership
Turnover is inevitable in any organization, but Starbucks has the unique opportunity to greatly reduce its occurrence. I propose that we partner with our local communities to increase popularity, sales, and profits. We should connect with local high schools and create separate internship opportunities at each store. Corporate internships are good, but they are impersonal and do not help grow each individual community. Communities love our organization, and we should return that love in a more personal manner.

Change Management Plan
Employee Growth
Partnering with local high schools will help us find local talent that can grow within our organization, and eventually take over as senior managers retire. Statistics show that people are more likely to frequent an establishment they like if they see a familiar face. It would be wonderful to have a kid that grew up in the neighborhood join Starbucks and grow within. We can partner with our current scholarship opportunities and offer local students the opportunity to go to college, partly or wholly financed by us, and then return to the community for their career.

Change Management Plan
Increased retention
This plan will help to increase employee retention as familiar faces bring in more familiar faces. Additionally, we are helping the local community and encouraging education and growth at the same time. Even though students that don’t choose to pursue a college education can continue to be employees and find their place in Starbucks. This way, we aren’t just hiring employees, we are building employees.

Desired Outcome
Premier Transformational Organizational
The goal of this change management plan is to make Starbucks a premier transformational organization. We are creating leaders and helping grow the local support in each community. We are showing our dedication and commitment to each individual area. We are also making our community thrive more as we will gain support and increase our overall business growth strategy.
6
Desired Outcome
Increased community support
Starbucks loves the people, and we want the people to love us. We can’t grow without our community, so we need to show them how we want to remain here. We also want to reduce competition by showing that we are the staple in the community. We encourage education and career growth at the same time as we individually teach, mentor, and invest in local talent.

Alignment with Organizational Culture
Mission – Inspire and measure human spirit
Vision – To be the finest coffee establishment
Values – Create a culture of warmth and belonging
Strategies – Increased community presence and support
The above lists the current culture of Starbucks. Each of these factors is closely aligned with the change management plan. We are boosting these factors within our community and we will obliterate the competition in doing so.
