Topic: The Gender Wage Gap

The gender wage gap refers to the problem that affects both males and females. They differ in terms of the choices that female makes in the industry. The difference arises from the unequal salary that each gender acquires in different fields (Wodon & De La Briere, 2018). For example, research carried out on the medical industry shows that medical experts are not equally paid. The pay gap is always bigger in this field when compared to other fields. Male ophthalmologists earn thirty six percent higher compared to females. Besides, male cardiologists earn 29% more salary than female.

Other studies elaborate more on the calculations done to prove that females have to work extra time to earn wages that men already have. For instance, to obtain the 2017 wages of men, females have to work till August 2018. In the latest decade, it was observed that there was positive progress, but also U.S. Census Bureau make public that the gender wage gap tell untruths between 77-79 cents for women to 1 dollar received by men. Therefore, it was concluded that women make a loss of about 20 cents when they earn 1 dollar but obtains 80% earnings from their male counterparts.

According to Adnan and Miaari (2018), mostly males do secure the managerial and leadership seats; therefore, there is a possibility of differences in the wage gap. Additionally, researchers have obtained that females are poor in negotiations and analytics in their fields. Therefore, fails to perform crucial and definite jobs on the same level in which men do. Also, females have other tasks of caring for their issues.

Finally, women are affected by social roles, which include child caring. Women on maternity leave do not earn the same as men working and contributing to the company effectively. Therefore wage gap conflicts arise on the rights equality and women discrimination in terms of salaries. This is because women need to be treated equally to men despite the job they do in the company. On the other hand, employees focus on effective business development.

The core of the issue that is related to the gender wage gap is the aggravation of gender inequality. Typically it is caused by the inaccuracy patriarchal views that exist in society. Alternatively, wage up is obtained through positions and achievements that men have in the entire society. It is important to reward both genders equally according to their achievements. It is good to associate the proper estimation of achievements with ethical dilemmas. Based on the statistics, employers ought to answer whether it is good to prefer men over women in definite positions and fair distribution of wages.

Gender wage gap evolution is associated with parental and marital status strongly. It exists in society in which people have been convinced that females are best in household chores while men are good at leadership, marketing, and company management. Significantly, men are advantaged in labor market earnings for their families as well as maintaining leadership positions. It is important on matters concerning gender equality and the rights of individuals because sometimes women do similar jobs with men, but still, they earn less, meaning that women are discriminated against contrary to the International Bill of Human Rights.
