"Because of the fact that every man's salvation is hinged upon his own choice and free will, it is an awful thing to have the power to take salvation and to throw it away. And yet it is left to our choice. We are not forced to take it. We must voluntarily choose it or reject it" (Simpson, 1888, p. 23).

Background Information

John 14:6(new tab) : Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

5. Have you ever been in trouble and then "let off the hook?" In other words, have you ever been released of consequences for your actions? How did it feel?

5. Is your instinct to “repay” someone when they’ve let you off the hook or covered your mistake? How might that look in a relationship with others? With Jesus? Consider how the Bible passages listed in the Background Information inform your thoughts.
