For this week’s assignment, my research question based on my data, How likely are lower-class families prone to having a gun in their home, based on Race, Age, and Citizenship?
Three out of ten American grown-ups say they currently own a firearm, and another 11% say they don't claim a weapon yet live with somebody who does. (Parker, K., et al. 2020). Among the individuals who don't as of now own a firearm, about half say they could see themselves buying one later on (Parker, K., et al. 2020). Firearm possession is more normal among men than ladies, and white men are especially liable to have a registered firearm (Parker, K., et al. 2020). Among the individuals who live in lower-income housing, 46% say they own a weapon, and 28% of the individuals live in the middle class, and 19% in the upper class (Parker, K., et al. 2020). White men are particularly prone to be weapon carriers: About half (48%) say they own a firearm, and which is about a fourth of white ladies and nonwhite men (24% each) and 16% of nonwhite ladies. (Parker, K., et al. 2020). Although not reported, I believe that more than a half of young black men own guns in lower-class families due to safety issues. This may or may not coincide with evidence because most of these guns are not registered. The most elevated firearm sales increment comes from Black people, who show a 58.2% expansion in buys during the initial half-year of 2020 (Silva, C, 2020).
Across races, since the 1970s, weapon owners have moved away from hunting and sports and towards self-defense (Silva, C, 2020). One activist stated, “I just feel safer now having a gun. And I didn't always feel that way. I've never been the world's biggest fan of guns, but I just don't feel safe without one” (Silva, C, 2020). Social change in this aspect can be changed by allowing everyone to get have a registered gun to protect themselves, also so that every bullet can be traced. This will allow social change and will stop most of the population from being killed.
