The adoption of the Acting Program
The program that I would like to adopt is acting. The reason behind it is associated with two factors, and they are the growth of the acting industry and the high demand for the skills in the education sector (Burt, 2018). The acting industry has grown, and unlike a few years ago, today, there are many opportunities that are available. For example, acting organizations are employing directors, advisors, and scriptwriters. It, therefore, means that the field has grown and one does not only have to end up to be an actor after taking the program. As a result of the growth, the demand for professionally trained actors has increased.
High demand for the skills that are needed in acting is evident in the academic field and also in the acting industry. Most of the organizations that hire actors conduct auditions where they select the best candidates. When it gets to the stage where the employees are not absorbed and trained, it becomes essential for the employees in the industry to have ready skills that help them to fit in the industry. In this respect, most of the people interested in the industry have no choice than to have ready skills (Haskins, 2017). To make sure that most of the interested persons get the first chance to be allocated slots in films, they have opted to go to schools for prior knowledge, and this has directly affected the demand of the skills. The demand has also increased from the perspective of the industry. Most of the directors do not want to spend time training actors; instead, they want to work with people who have acting skills and that has forced many interested actors to go back to school.
The goals of the program are to promote diversity and to absorb most of the young people who need artistic skills. Most universities have focused on white color professions and engineering. Artistic courses and programs have been left behind even though the production of films has increased more than ever. It, therefore, means that there are biases promoted (Haskins, 2017). Diversity is essential in an institution because the environment of learning affects the students. When an institution brings a diverse course, it brings more different students, and their encounter might have positive effects on them.
Not all students are gifted academically. Some of the students are good in arts but very poor in academics. It is essential to note that biases in programs have effects on the professionals that are released to the market or world of business. An institution is likely to affect its reputation positively because of embracing diverse skills (Burt, 2018). At the same time, there are many young people that have failed to fit in the current curriculum. Introducing the program will be a way of giving most young actors hope and assuring them that even talents matter and they could be used to better the life of a person.
The two methods that will be used to assess the needs of the program are surveys and interviews. Acting programs are not new in the higher education sector in the United States. The only difference is that they are taught in a few institutions as opposed to other programs. At the same time, in most cases, they are adopted by community colleges only. Considering that there are institutions that teach the programs, it will be easier to look at what is needed. In this case, it will only be essential to know the resources that are needed because the expertise can be sourced (Haskins, 2017). Most of the institutions do not hide about the units that they teach. At the same time, there is information that is sometimes passed to the public, and it becomes essential and helpful in knowing the type of knowledge that is passed to the students. By utilizing this information, it will be easier to know the needs of the program.
Interviews can also be helpful because it will be easier to understand the entire program by talking to a person with knowledge. The best place to target in this case is the ministry of higher education. The reason behind it is because the ministry has a department that assesses institutions and this means that there must be professionals who understand the needs of the program (Luo, Xia, Haddow, Willson, & Yang, 2018). The department heads can help in telling more about what an institution should have before it is allowed to adopt the program.
The best way to measure the progress of the program is by working with the ministry of education. The ministry of education has specialists who can assess the progress of the program. It is essential to utilize their knowledge as well as their experience to measure the progress of the program. The satisfaction of the students will also be used. When there is progress, students are impressed and satisfied because they have value for their money.
The ultimate success of the program will be seen in different ways. The first way is through enrolments. Students are good when it comes to passing a message about their institution. Therefore, it means that if the program is successful, the students will be passing messages to other interested parties and they will start enrolling as well (Burt, 2018). The second way is associated with the competitiveness of the students. Following up on students and getting to know how they are doing in the industry is the best way to know if the program is a success or not. If many students are absorbed in the acting industry, it will be proof that the program is a success.
