I oversee our fleet of vehicles. I must make sure that they stay maintained, keep track of mileage, maintenance expenses, year of vehicle. This will then get added to a system which will track the number of points that the vehicle equals. Once the vehicle has 15 points it will be ready for deadline or to be put out of service. Therefore, we must track and analysis this data. We also must keep in mind that we have multiple different types of vehicles i.e., patrol, K9, unmarks both command staff, detective, SAT.

I must track the data that shows which vehicles are getting close to the 15 points, base my new vehicle budget on what I am going to order. While also keeping in mind that once I order a vehicle it still takes 6-9 months for the vehicle to come in and then be upfit them before they can be utilized. While also keeping in mind that I might lose a vehicle due to an accident. So just because a vehicle hits the 15 points it might not get deadlined right away then I must be able to justify that as well.

I am a Grant Navigator and a large portion of my day is data analysis. For every grant I must keep a log of all of the providers I have contact with in my region. Within that log I also have to track if they have applied for the current grant, if they were approved or denied, if they were referred to anyone else for assistance, or if they will require any follow ups. On a separate log I have to track if I was able to update their profile information. Today alone I talked to over 60 childcare providers who needed assistance in applying for our current grant. My supervisor "runs data reports" weekly to provide the numbers to the state so that they can see if those in my position are fulfilling our job responsibilities efficiently and accurately.

While all of this data is very different than the data that would be collected in a criminal justice position, I believe the practice of staying focused and organized to ensure I am able to reach as many providers in my region as I am expected to be great practice for any position that has quite a bit of data analysis responsibilities.
