Plea Bargain—Innovation or Imperfect?
Journal: Plea Bargain—Innovation or Imperfect?
The ability to reach a plea agreement has perceived benefits for prosecution and even the defense. An offender assisting law enforcement to catch “bigger fish” could lead to a lighter sentence. However, when pleas are traded to create efficiencies, the ways in which justice is defined, and for whom, may vary. In this Journal entry, you explore your own opinion of negotiated justice.
